CSLA’s CafePress presence includes children’s illustrator Sarajo Frieden. Some of the children’s books that she has illustrated include Noonie’s Masterpiece and The Care and Feeding of Fish. Sarajo has had several group and solo exhibitions since 2005 and has garnered illustration commissions for a variety of clientele: Valentine’s Day Godiva packaging, Honest to Nod bedding, voting posters, positive education publication, and other artists’ art shows.
Sarajo’s style tends to feature flat, colorful stylized figures that express joyful movement. She tends to work on paper, and sometimes uses cutouts and cut paper in collage fashion. She enjoys mixing disparate references to create new perceptions.
Sarajo received her BFA in painting and printmaking from UCLA and id post-graduate work in fiber works at Otis College of Art and Design. About her background, Sarajo states in her website https://sarajofrieden.net: “I am a daughter of the Diaspora; my Jewish Hungarian émigré grandparents owned an embroidery shop in Los Angeles, and their home was a visual mecca filled with art books, bohemian glass, netsukes, and examples of traditional folk textiles from Hungary. My work reflects a hybrid of these influences along with those of California’s diverse
Pacific Rim communities where I was raised and continue to live.”
You can find many items with her artwork for sale at The Library Advocacy Store.
A portion of each purchase goes to the Foundation.
