CalMatters is a five-year-old nonprofit, nonpartisan state news organization that has carved out a leadership role at the center of the media ecosystem in California.
They’re offering to share their recently-launched 2020 voter guide with your library at no cost and with minimal effort to help inform Californians this election season.
The nonpartisan guide is easy for readers to navigate, with an array of interactive tools, games and video explainers that break down state ballot propositions, explain California’s role in the presidential election, and identify key races by district. There’s also a section answering readers’ frequently asked questions regarding voting and registration.
The voter guide can be a great resource for your community and your staff and I encourage you to promote it on your library’s website or on social media accounts with #CAVoterGuide and tagging @CalMatters where appropriate. You can find a full list of links to election stories and proposition videos in this shared drive.
Please add CalMatters to the news resources you have available on your site. CalMatters is also looking to develop long-term partnerships with libraries across the state, so if you’d like to discuss opportunities for your library to get the voter guide in other languages, co-host virtual election events, have easy access to educational materials and explainers, or establish RSS feeds for state coverage, you can contact the publisher Marcia Parker at marcia@calmatters.org.
