CSLA Conference 2019

How many days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the event of the year occurs?  Keep updated with our time on the CSLA Conference webpage.

What are you doing to get ready?  Have you read the Final Program?  Click here to download the pdf.  Start mapping out your workshops, concurrent sessions, author events,  legislative meeting, exhibitor learning sessions, the exhibit hall, awards luncheon, and so much more.  Your choices seem endless and sometimes soooo hard to pick the perfect one, so why not pick two?  Have a back-up plan.  You can always ask someone else to share a recap of one session, and you do likewise.

First time attendees....plan on attending Friday from 7-8 a.m. the First Timers Meeting in the Cherry Hill room.  You will get a quick overview of conference, meet some board members, and hear some expert advice about how to navigate and get the most out of your conference experience.

Vendors....visit all of our vendors.  Ask them questions.   Investigate their products.  Try something new.  The vendors are here for you.  They want to help you understand their products better.  The Exhibit Hall opens Friday 3 p.m. and closes Saturday at 2:30 p.m.  And a special thanks goes to our conference sponsors:  CTA, Demco, Follett, Gale, JLG, Mackin, Perma-Bound, & Scholastic Book Fairs.

Support California library services by supporting CSLF's Opportunity Drawing.  CSLF sponsors library scholarships. What a wonderful opportunity to show your library support. Read more about the Opportunity Drawing on page 63 of the conference program.

UNconference....Thursday night from 9-11 p.m. in the Colonial Ballroom.  Get your library on!  The focus is on informal peer-to-peer learning, PLN (personal learning network) building, and sharing.  Check out the csla.net/2019-conference/unconference for more information.

Meet and Greet...want to know who lives and works near you?  Attend Saturday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Colonial Ballroom.  This is a great opportunity to socialize and network with others.

Opening and Closing Keynote Speakers..Alan November kicks off our conference on
Friday at 8 a.m.  In his keynote, Alan will inspire us to look critically at our programs, considering this: As technology grows ever more ubiquitous, the massive shift from paper as the dominant media to digital content will only continue.  Sunday at 10:45 a.m., join award-winning author and illustrator, Eugene Yelchin, as he shares his personal experiences to show how reading informs our ethical, aesthetic and, ultimately, political stand.

CYRM...California Young Reader Medal banquet on Saturday from 7:30 -9:30 p.m. will feature author Sara Pennypacker.  Many other authors will also be attending, and at least one author will be seated at your table. Find out about all of the winners at californiayoungreadermedal.org/winners/.

These are just a FEW of the many, many opportunities to DREAM about libraries.
